About Us

A scenic view of the Sweet Home Elks Lodge at dusk. — Sweet Home Elks Lodge #1972
A scenic view of the Sweet Home Elks Lodge at dusk.

Sweet Home Elks Lodge #1972 sits on Osage Street in one of Oregon's proudest timber-country towns, and that heritage runs straight through everything here. The lodge has watched Sweet Home evolve through the boom years, the mill closures, and the quiet resilience that followed. That history isn't a burden; it's the reason members keep showing up, decade after decade, to look out for their neighbors.

Ask anyone in town and they'll tell you about the twice-monthly breakfasts, priced so that a family on any budget can pull up a chair and eat well. Or they'll mention the Class of 2021 prom that happened here because the lodge stepped in to make sure graduating seniors got the send-off they deserved after a difficult year. With a 4.4-star rating across dozens of local reviews, the warmth isn't just tradition; it's a daily practice.

The lodge draws a crowd that spans generations, from longtime members who remember when the mills were running full tilt, to newcomers who just want a friendly room and a cause worth supporting. If Sweet Home matters to you, this is where you belong.

What We Offer

The lodge hosts affordable community breakfasts twice a month, open to members and guests alike. Eggs, conversation, and coffee at prices that haven't chased anyone away yet. It's the kind of meal that used to anchor every small town in the Pacific Northwest, and Lodge #1972 keeps that tradition alive.

Beyond the breakfast table, the lodge offers its facilities for community events ranging from graduation celebrations and fundraisers to private gatherings and civic meetings. The space is practical, well-known, and easy to book for groups that need a real room rather than a rented hotel ballroom. Members also gain access to the broader Elks national network, including scholarship programs, veteran support initiatives, and youth activities that put dues dollars to direct local use.

New and prospective members are always welcome to stop by, ask questions, and see what the lodge is about before committing to anything.

"Small town Lodge. Somewhat in a time warp. Sweet Home was a timber town and with the collapse of that resource extraction industry many rual West small towns such as this were left with smaller populations and much less economic strength in comparison to their heydays. A facility like this couldn't be made in today's economy. This is a beautiful and large facility. Great for large functions. It is being lovingly kept up by the membership that truly cares and care about their community. Hopefully the lodge can keep viable enough to prevail through the future..... the millennials and their children may be the deciding factor. I hope it continues as a centerpiece of the community. A great civic asset."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
